The therapeutic process
Our therapeutic journey together involves guiding individuals and couples as they seek solutions and well-being amidst the challenges of daily life. We understand that everyone’s needs and goals are unique, so our approach is tailored specifically to you. Throughout our sessions, we work together to identify and address relationship and sexuality issues, crafting strategies and solutions that bring back equilibrium. We draw from diverse tools, including eclectic and feminist perspectives, which highlight your strengths and abilities. We prioritize your comfort and pace, offering a safe and non-judgmental space where you can reclaim control over your life.
Modality
The procedures we follow are designed according to your unique needs, the challenges you’re facing, and the goals you have in mind. As a result, the frequency of our follow-up sessions can’t be set in stone – it varies based on what’s best for you. Each session is designed to last 50 minutes, ensuring that we make the most of our time together.
Record Keeping
When you start your journey with us for a sexology consultation, rest assured that we treat your information with the utmost confidentiality. We handle your details following the strict guidelines of the Règlement sur les dossiers, les cabinets de consultation et autres bureaux set by the Ordre professionnel des sexologues du Québec.
Your information is kept secure and private. We never share any details about you with a third party unless you give us your written consent. If you’re joining us for couple or family sessions, we make sure to get authorization from each member involved.
Confidentiality
During our meetings, the information we discuss is treated with the utmost confidentiality, guided by professional secrecy. However, it’s important to know that there are some legal limits to this confidentiality:
- If requested by a judge.
- If there’s a concern about your safety or the safety of another person.
Additionally, according to the Youth Protection Act, if we have valid reasons to believe that a child’s safety or well-being is at risk, we’re obligated to report the situation to other professionals or individuals in your immediate support network who can help.
Your privacy and well-being remain our top priority as we work together.
Professional Supervision
Our sexologist is a registered member of the l’Ordre professionnel des sexologues du Québec. They are committed to upholding the high standards set by the Code de déontologie des sexologues and following the regulations laid out by the professional order. Your well-being and quality of care are paramount to us.
Fees and Session Procedure
As we proceed, please ensure you adhere to your responsibilities regarding fees and our cancellation policy. To facilitate this, we kindly request that you make payments for each 50-minute session via bank transfer.
Absence
If you’re unable to attend a session, we kindly ask that you inform us promptly. You can reach us by emailing amsexologue@gmail.com. No charges will be incurred for cancellations made within 24 hours. However, a full session fee will be applicable if the cancellation is not made at least 24 hours in advance.
Late Arrival
Should you experience a delay, please be aware that the fee for the full session will still be charged. Nonetheless, the session will conclude at the originally scheduled time. In the rare event that the therapist is not punctual, your session will be extended to a full 50 minutes to ensure you’re not inconvenienced.
Benefits and Risks
Engaging in therapy offers a safe space to explore your thoughts and emotions, aiding in self-discovery, personal growth, and improved mental well-being. While therapy can be transformative, it might evoke discomfort as you delve into challenging topics. However, this process is often essential for lasting positive change. Recognizing both the potential benefits and the temporary challenges of therapy can empower you to navigate your healing journey with resilience and optimism.
Termination
Should the sexologist find that their assistance or the proposed treatment is no longer aligning effectively, they are obligated to have a conversation with you about discontinuing the follow-up. If it’s deemed suitable, they might also recommend another professional they believe would be more appropriate. Equally, you hold the right to conclude your sexology consultation process at any time.
